Lace, Stripes and Black & White

Winter is creeping forward more and more everyday. The leaves have changed colour and are beginning to fall, the days are cool and the nights freezing and the skies are always threatening to rain. This is going to be my first winter in Melbourne and I am nervous but excited. Nervous since I hate the cold with a passion (I would take a 40 degree day over anything below 15 anytime) but excited because I get to try out new winter fashion that cannot not be  worn normally in Perth.
Over-sized coats, scarfs, layers upon layers, gum boots and an umbrella, this is my "need to get" list for this winter.

A popular trend for this season is Monochrome and as you may have already read in my previous post (Monochromatic) I love it!
It is the most simple, interesting and chic way to dress. It can be as dressy or as casual as you want it and you can be "monochrome" in the most simplest way or in the most extravagant way. I have gone with a more simple/sporty luxe approach. My favourite detail in the whole outfit is the laced sleeve, it transformed the whole look into "modern chicness". The pants with the white stripes on the side give the slimming effect to my legs and wearing them higher on the waist has also made me look that little bit taller. All I need to do now is add that over-sized coat and a big chunky scarf and I am winter ready!

Market Day

Recently I visited the reputable Camberwell Sunday Markets. This is the first time that I have ever been to them and I left impressed. It was busy, had a lot to offer and the opportunity to discover hidden bargains. There was a mixture of stalls, you had people selling off their old belongings or local businesses giving us the opportunity to discover them. I came across the stall "Kitte Accoutrement" that was selling beautiful accessories. Their jewellery are unique, beautiful and designed to stand out. My bargain of the day was this dark blue faux leather skirt. It was $20 and the perfect fit, it was a lucky find and I cannot wait to go back this weekend to find some more affordable fashion.

What have you found at the markets recently?

Shoes are made for walking!

Shoes are the most important accessory to every girl, they can make or break an outfit and can make you feel like a million bucks.
High heels, ballet flats, boots, flat forms your choices are endless. My favorite pick of the week are my leopard print loafers from Betts Shoes. These are my go to shoes when I have a lot of walking to do. They are super comfy and still feel stylish mixed with fierce.

What are your go to shoes?

Ginger & Smart

After being apart of VAMFF (Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival) I discovered the amazing Australian label, Ginger & Smart. The runway that the Smart sisters presented was a fashion feast for all eyes. Their designs are for the individual woman who seek to have a distinctive style.

I was then on the hunt for a Ginger & Smart item of my own. This dress from their Akin line was perfect. It is bright, fun and has great movement in the skirt. The long sleeves mean it is winter safe and the 70s inspired pattern makes it an interesting and individual piece. My favorite hidden detail of this dress is the cut outs in the shoulders, it shows a flash of skin and in my case a flash of ink.

What new labels have you recently discovered and instantly loved it?

Monochromatic

This week has been the true beginning of a Melbourne winter, non stop rain!
To match the doom and gloom of the weather I decided a fabulous monochrome outfit would be perfect. Monochrome can be worn many different ways; spots, stripes, patterns or even as simple as a white top and black skirt. Monochrome is a minimalist look that highlights two contrasting but yet harmonious colours, when wearing a combo like this you can not fail in looking elegant.
I have tied the whole outfit together with black and gold accessories, classic and chic all in one!

Let me know what you think about this outfit, love or hate?

Capes and Leopard Print

As a child the cape symbolised the handsome prince on his white horse or the super hero coming to the rescue, now it symbolises high fashion and it can be affordable ($79.95 affordable). The cape possess an element of mystery and elegance, they have a clean and chic look to them and come in many different shapes and sizes. They can be worn out to dinner or to a play or even a casual day of shopping. Capes are going to be my staple for winter 2014.

This is my first and only leopard print, I chose to not go with your traditional animal colour but fun bright colours. The verdict is in and I am in love! It is bright, fun, easy to wear and my new favorite dress. It is perfect that it came in a skater cut. A skater dress is the best cut and fit for a female with curves and a small waist.

What are your thoughts on these items together as an outfit?
Do you have the love for capes this year?
